Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaharah Ibrahim’s main research area is Environmental Biotechnology, focusing on solving problems related to industrial wastewater using specialized microbes in suspension or in biofilms. Since obtaining her PhD in 1993, she has been involved in treatment of various types of wastewater (heavy metal and gold mining, agricultural, industrial, petrochemical, and textile wastewater) using biological and eco-friendly means.
Dr. Adibah Bte Yahya is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Biotechnology at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai. Her teaching experience includes Microbiology, Environmental Bioengineering, and Management and Treatment of Waste, at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. She has been involved in microbial bioremediation of wastewater from various sources such as petrochemical, POME, industrial, agricultural, and textile.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmi Aris heads the Department of Environmental Engineering, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UTM, Skudai. His expertise in both Civil Engineering and wastewater treatment has earned him several intellectual properties, publications, awards, invitations as invited speaker, and projects involving wastewater treatment. He has also served as consultant to various parties, such as the Malaysian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, the National Hydraulics Research Institute Malaysia (NAHRIM), and Madinah Local Authority of Saudi Arabia. His research experience includes treatment of palm oil mill effluent, development of bioreactor system, bioremediation, and improvement of water network.
